And as fire experimentation ensues, so does a massive wildfire threatening the Los Angeles-area. Fire officials hope to contain the Springs fire by Tuesday which has grown to 43 square miles -claiming 28,000 acres since last Thursday.
So far, The Ventura County fire has damaged 15 residences and 5 commercial properties and destroyed 25 buildings. Residents and fire officials alike are concerned about the ill timing of the inferno with such little cumulative rainfall and the eerie start to the wildfire season which generally begins in August or September. A weekend low pressure system did help to significantly reduce the fire activity which is now 80% contained. A total of 1,895 fire personnel, six air tankers and 11 helicopters have helped to battle the blaze.
