Biography


Brian specializes in building enclosure system performance consultation and testing in both new construction and forensic evaluations. He has consulted on projects across the United States and internationally including the new U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, and served as an expert witness in forensic failure analysis investigations.

For over a decade, Brian has contributed to the growth of Pie by implementing new testing and analysis strategies, training of Pie personnel, and maintaining Pie’s reputation for exceptional client relations. In 2009, Brian moved from Colorado to his home state of Minnesota and became a Principal of the firm in 2012.

Brian served as a primary technical advisor to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the development of the USACE Air Leakage Test Protocol and continues to present nationally on building enclosure performance to the design, construction, insurance, and legal industries. He has been published in many leading trade journals, including co-authoring a paper on ventilation and fluid dynamics in the International Journal of Building Simulation, which was voted “Best Paper” of 2008 by the editorial board.

In his spare time, Brian enjoys fishing, golf, skiing, and of course spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
