Despite record rainfall the week
prior – this year’s Cherrity Pie Festival
, which took place September 14th
benefitting Anchor Center for Blind Children, was beautiful success raising over
$26,000 in charitable donations and bringing out over 200 guests!

Since the inception of the festival in 2010, Pie has donated a total of $69,000 in
funds to the Anchor Center over the last 3 years.

We are still blushing from all the thanks we’ve received from Anchor Center staff
and families for making the event possible
.

Anchor Center for Blind Children, is a non-profit organization staffed by highly trained
vision specialists, therapists, and teachers who strive to foster the full potential of
blind children by providing exemplary education, therapy and family support services.

Anchor Center children really do ‘see life differently.’ They make you realize that
even with unbelievable challenges, there is hope. Given professional and loving
support and witnessing the success stories of others, families and students
continually succeed.
We were thrilled that this year’s event took place at Anchor
Center’s wonderful, state
of the art facility. Sponsors and donors got a first-hand look
at how their generosity
will be utilized.– Craig Sellers, Pie Principal

It was great to see so many of our current
and past students attend the event along with people from the community who came
out to enjoy the sunshine after so many days of rain. Funds will be used to support
our center-based programs for infants, toddlers and preschoolers which include
activities to help children develop socialization, motor and verbal development getting them ready for the next phase of their educational experience usually in their local
public school.
