Google Creates Dynamic Wildfire Tracking Map
To help with the current wildfire situation across the U.S., Google has created a dynamic wildfire map utilizing their Crisis Response platform. The map displays data, which has been collected together from various other web services including – InciWeb, NOAA‘s Storm Prediction Center and even information from local organizations, in a visual format across a typical Google Maps interface. This up-to-date information stream allows people to learn more about the wildfires that may be near them or people they know and also helps them to prepare for potential disaster.
The Crisis Response platform also has significant uses when disaster strikes. It provides a number of services including a web service called “Person Finder” which allows people to connect with friends and loved ones who may or may not be involved with the crisis.
