High Park Fire Amplifies Overnight – Updated
You only need to step outside today for an obvious reminder that the state of Colorado is in extreme fire danger.
With zero containment of the High Park fire near Fort Collins, officials warn Coloradans that the fire is growing at 20 to 40 feet a minute! Currently spanning more than 36,930 acres, the fire is being feed by dry timber and grasses.
Lake Dillon Fire Deputy and Pie Senior Fire Investigator, Jeff Berino CFEI, CCFI, B.S., is currently investigating a shooting range fire that broke out last week at the Summit County Landfill. Fire investigators are convinced that the blaze was human triggered. The fire took up to 3 hours to contain.
Containment reached 10% Tuesday night, though costs incurred have amounted to over 3 million with over 49,000 acres burned.
Over six hundred have been evacuated and there is one reported death…62 year old Grandmother Linda Steadman. If you know the family please offer your condolences.
The fire fighters have not calmed their efforts, and more than 1,000 crews are working tirelessly to control the fire.
