Pie Attending WomenCook!
Pie is proud and excited to be attending Work Options for Women’s 7th Annual WomenCook! event this evening as a “Foodie” sponsor. According to WOW’s web site, the popular event features female chefs from some of Denver’s most notable restaurants for an evening of food, wine and music. During the meal, each chef serves signature dishes while guests meet and speak directly with them. The event sold out some time ago, and we are thrilled to be a part of it. Women (WOW) was founded in 1996 with a mission to combat homelessness and poverty by providing unemployed women with the confidence and skills they need to become gainfully and permanently employed in the food service industry. WOW has trained and placed more than 300 women in cooking and food service positions since its inception.
Providing support to the community and giving back is an important part of Pie’s mission. To-date, Pie’s donations to organizations exceed $40,000.
“Work Options for Women receives support from Pie Forensic Consultants because they assist women in helping themselves. They use the philosophy of ‘teach a person TO fish is better than GIVING a fish.’ This organization has a tremendous ‘success’ rate of training women with a skill they can use to enhance their own futures,” said Paul Duncan, president of Pie Forensic Consultants. “Donating to nonprofit organizations has been important to us for as long as we can remember. It is a principle we have learned through our Christian heritage. Although nearly all nonprofits are outstanding, the organizations that keep overhead low and work to help the helpless or help adults help themselves are our favorites.”
Be on the lookout for an announcement soon on Pie’s own inaugural charity event, which will be held in September!
