Pie Minnesota Works on the SD Federal Building

Pie Consulting & Engineering’s Minnesota branch recently conducted a forensic evaluation of a historical landmark building’s façade in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Our client, the General Services Administration (GSA) retained Pie to evaluate the historical slate roof, quartz stone façade, and fenestrations of the historical building to provide recommendations for restoration and remediation to address long-term issues the building has been experiencing, some of which dated back to 1946.

We utilized depressurization techniques, non-intrusive examination via infrared thermography scans (IRT), and targeted water performance testing utilizing the AAMA 501.2 protocol.

We were able to diagnose systematic issues and provide recommendations to the GSA so they have the information they need moving forward with their decisions.
