4th Annual Cherrity Pie Festival Raises $30,000+ for Anchor Center for Blind Children
Arvada, Colorado – November 4, 2014 – The fourth annual Cherrity Pie Festival hit a new record, raising more than $30,000 for Anchor Center for Blind Children, a Denver-based nonprofit serving more than 400 children a year.
The event’s success brings the cumulative total benefiting Anchor Center to nearly $100,000 since it started in 2011 by Pie Consulting & Engineering.
The Cherrity Pie Festival is Pie’s hallmark community fundraiser and last year raised more than $26,000 for early intervention center-based programs for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. This year’s efforts set a new record for the annual event and brought the cumulative total to nearly $100,000 for Anchor Center.
“I couldn’t be more proud of all the sponsors, volunteers, and community support we’ve had to make this year’s Cherrity Pie Festival the biggest ever,” said Paul Duncan, president of Pie, a global forensic and building sciences engineering firm. “Anchor Center is a special place that provides early intervention and professional support and empowers kids to soar.”
This year’s event, co-sponsored by the law firm of Holland & Hart, featured fun family activities and a silent auction. It drew nearly 200 attendees.
The auction alone raised more than $6,300, including a signed Peyton Manning Broncos framed jersey drawing that topped $2,000 with more than 500 entrants.
Our generous sponsors contributed $22,500, making this year’s festival the most successful one yet. Our 2014 corporate supporters include Andarko Petroleum Company, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Village Inn, ASR, Harmon Inc, SPCS, Ponderosa Petroleum, RE Reconstruction Experts, Lerch Bates, Fiore & Sons, Samora, J.R. Butler, Smalley & Company, T.A.M.P.A., Hayes Construction Company, Blue Sky, Jansen Strawn, PiChai, Wadell & Reed, Rogue Architecture, Corsela Dorken Delta, Saunders, Grace, Palace Construction, R.W. Specialties, Inc., New York Deli News, Sign-a-Rama, and Gravity Play.
“When you see first-hand the positive impact that the Anchor Center early intervention has made on so many Colorado families, it’s easy to see why our company, staff and partners generously support this important event, year after year,” Duncan added.
“We want to thank Pie Consulting & Engineering for giving back to the community via the Cherrity Pie Festival now in its fourth year. The principals and all the employees have been so generous with their time in planning and putting on the event,” said Anchor Center’s development director Kristine Wolfe. “The funds donated by sponsors and attendees have helped Anchor Center provide services to children with vision impairments throughout the state. They have become a part of the Anchor Center family and the friendships that have been formed are near and dear to our hearts. We value the partnership and are extremely grateful for the success of this year’s event.”
