cherry-festivalLooking for a great family event to enjoy Colorado’s fall weather while supporting a local nonprofit dedicated to serving visually impaired children?

Look no further than this year’s 6th Annual Cherrity Pie Fall Festival to be held from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m., Sept. 24, at the Anchor Center for Blind Children, 2550 Rosyln St. in Denver.

Hosted by Pie Consulting & Engineering, this year’s festival will feature music, face painting and balloon art, a pie-eating contest, children’s games, a mini train, a pie bake off, as well as a silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Anchor Center, which provides visually impaired infants, young children and their families with hope and a nurturing learning environment where they can reach their highest potential.

The Cherrity Pie Festival is Pie’s hallmark community fundraiser and last year raised more than $36,000 for early intervention center-based programs for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Cumulatively, this annual event has raised more than $130,000 for Anchor Center.

Tickets are $10 (free to children 12 and under) and may be purchased at www.anchorcenter.org.

Founded in 1982, Anchor Center for Blind Children is a nationally recognized, private, non-profit agency providing services for blind and visually impaired children. Through early intervention vision services, Anchor Center works with children to maximize the use of any vision they may have as well as optimizing their use of all senses. It currently serves about 400 children a year.
