Pie Selected as Enclosure Consultant for DIA South Terminal Redevelopment Program

Arvada, Colorado (April 26, 2013) – Pie Consulting & Engineering (Pie) is pleased to announce that the tri-venture of Mortenson-Hunt-Saunders has awarded Pie the building enclosure consulting services contract for the Denver International Airport (DIA) South Terminal Redevelopment Program (STRP). Scheduled for completion in 2015, the $500 million project will finalize the airport’s original vision. Key features include a 519-room Westin Hotel, a public plaza for programs and events, and a Public Transit Center connecting the RTD East Rail Line station at DIA with downtown’s Denver Union Station. The tri-venture team of Mortenson-Hunt-Saunders (MHS) is responsible for construction of these iconic structures.

Pie’s building enclosure services will include:

  • Design phase review and consultation services
  • Submittal and shop drawing reviews
  • Off-site mock-up QA and laboratory test witnessing
  • Development of enclosure verification checklists for contractor/sub-contractor QC
  • Pre-installation meetings and training
  • Construction phase quality assurance
    observations and reporting

Pie’s QA observation services and reporting will be
accomplished via Autodesk® BIM 360 field
management software. This will be the second
project in which Pie utilizes the Autodesk®
Building Information Modeling (BIM) 360, a
sophisticated cloud-based platform in which
building, infrastructure, design, and construction
professionals can access, input, and monitor
intelligent, model-based workflows through a
broad range of services that provide mobility,
accessibility, and virtually infinite computing power.
