New Public Service Building

Project Overview

To enhance community service and streamline City operations, the City of Minneapolis will consolidate all departments into the $210M New Public Service Building. The 10-story tall, 382,000 SF office tower will be primarily enclosed in a unitized glass facade designed to capitalize on natural lighting to create a healthy working environment. As the Building Enclosure Commissioning Agent (BECxA), Pie was engaged directly by the City of Minneapolis to assist with development of facade performance requirements, glazing sub-contractor selection, consulting on enclosure details, performing technical plan and specification reviews, developing a BECx plan and specification section, reviewing sub-contractor submittal packages, performing field quality assurance observations, and providing project close-out documentation.

With a focus on sustainability & performance, Pie’s services will contribute to the project’s LEED certification by obtaining two points for Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx) per LEED v4.

“The opportunity to assist as a key consultant on the Minneapolis Public Service Building reflects our expertise in the building science field as well as the dedication, determination, and professionalism embodied by all Pie staff. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our community by delivering a landmark facility that will fulfill Minneapolis’ and the community’s needs for decades to come.”
