Barkley Elementary School

Project Overview

Barkley Elementary School, constructed by SBH & CORE Joint Venture, is a $45.2 million project that created a new state-of-the-art school with room for 741 students. The school’s design incorporates a neighborhood type layout in which nine different neighborhoods for Pre-K through fifth grade are each made up of a central learning hub surrounded by four learning studios, a group room, a one-to-one room and a staff planning room. The design also includes an occupational and physical therapy area and special education support spaces.

Pie was retained by the general contractor to provide air barrier consulting services including technical peer reviews, Air Barrier Performance Testing and Infrared (IR) Thermography, and qualitative Air Infiltration and Water Penetration Testing.

At 259,215SF of total building envelope, Pie was able to test the building as a single entity, which enhanced accuracy and the overall testing and diagnostic analysis of building air leakage
